Useful websites for product safety and recall

Before buying new things many of us look for online reviews or ask friends about the certain product. The problem is that often we miss, a quite valuable info about the product safety and eventual recall.
Here are few places where you can get informed about the recent safety problems with many common items.  That info can be found in your local safety agency website, but in terms that many of the products are selling globally on amazon and ebay and sometimes not all safety criteria and updates are same, is good to look for information at few more sources.

MedlinePlus: Trusted Health Information for You

Not everything on internet is true, that's true! Especially regarding human health: there's so much info written by people with no medical or biological education and experience. That leads to misinformation and often wrong decisions.  We like to ask other people on social media, forums and etc., and  sometimes  untruth would become truth, just because someone didn't check the original source of information.

This is a real problem and has very simple solution:

"for medical questions ask your doctor, not "doctor" google!

Well, we all heard that many many times,  but sometimes we just want to find something extra, some more info that our doctor didn't have time to tell us about. In that case, check here: MedlinePlus: Trusted Health Information for You .
It is supported by the National Institutes of Health. The largest bio-medical institute in the world so that's reliable enough.
Good source for reliable medical info are the government health care websites as well, because are written by doctors and scientists.

Your stool has a "life"

We have quite a "life" down there.
"The American Gut Project is a crowdfunded research project run by the lab of Rob Knight, Ph.D., of the University of Colorado, Boulder. Dr. Knight, a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Early Career Scientist whose lab is part of the BioFrontiers Institute at the University of Colorado, launched the project with Jeff Leach, founder of the Human Food Project, which studies modern disease in the context of the ancient microbial world."

The in vitro burger is here and is good

The first in vitro burger is here. This new technology will save billions of dollars, will save billions of animals and save the planet by reducing the waste from meat industry (one of the biggest polluters nowadays). That's one of the most important discoveries, because from a cell of few you can feed a whole family and in terms that there is still hunger in the world, I hope that many non profit organizations will invest in the spreading of the technology and helping the poor nations. In vitro meat is useful for science experiments and that's quite important too, because will cut the cost ineffective  and cruel animal experiments.

Cranberries - the fruits that might fight cancer

Fruits are good for to maintain a good health - that's a fact that everybody knows. We have all heard about many, more or less exotic fruits that have potential anticancer abilities, but who knew that a common and well known fruit as the cranberry would be "the miracle" anticancer fruit?! The studies are promising, so  just add cranberries to your diet and be healthier. They are quite tasty as well.
If you love to eat lemons, apples or red grapes, that's good because they also have shown a good anticancer potential.

A documentary that everyone must see

The way we use our home - the planet Earth and her other inhabitants now, is not leading to anything good. The documentary Earthlings shows one of the reasons why. It's not easy to watch, but the truth often is bitter.

Harvard Health Letter: A conversation with Dr. Jerry Avorn about drugs and the drug industry

A conversation with Dr. Jerry Avorn about drugs and the drug industry

"Americans spend more than $300 billion a year on prescription drugs. How we use these drugs, and how effective they are, have become important subjects for public health researchers. A leader in this area is Dr. Jerry Avorn, chief of the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. Avorn is the author of numerous articles and the book Powerful Medicines.
For an article in the Harvard Health Letter, editor Peter Wehrwein spoke with Avorn about generic drugs, the pharmaceutical industry, the high cost of cancer drugs, and more."
